Flower/fruit: Elongated cluster of pale to dark blue flowers on a leafy stalk; 1 inch flower has upper lip with two lobes and lower lip with three lobes; lower lip is white striped; borne in axils of leaf-like bracts  
Flowering Season: Late summer into fall
Foliage: 2 to 6 inch elliptical or lance-shaped alternate, stalkless leaves; untoothed or irregularly toothed
Site: Open moist or wet woods, wet meadows, stream banks
