Stanly County 4-H Members Attend State 4-H Congress

A delegation of eight Stanly County 4-Her’s traveled to Raleigh to attend the 2015 North Carolina 4-H Congress held July 18-21 at North Carolina State University. Over 500 delegates from across the state participated in activities such as presentations, service projects, officer elections and educational tours and workshops.

Three of the delegates in attendance received awards for their participation in the State 4-H Presentation competition. Kate Van Horn won gold in the 14-to 18-year-old division of the Family and Consumer Science category with her Presentation “Customizing a Pattern.” Receiving bronze were Sarah Van Horn for her presentation “First Lady Dolly Madison” in the 9-to 10-year-old division of Citizenship and Community Service and Maddie Starnes in the 14-to 18-year old division of Livestock and Dairy Production for her presentation “Methods of Animal Reproduction.”
