On March 7th, 2019, several 4-H’ers gathered to celebrate a wonderful year of accomplishments through Stanly County 4-H.
The festivities kicked off at 6 p.m. with a meal and review of our year. The 2018 year included lots of activities for youth: camp, project record books, Congress, Teen Retreat, National Youth Science Day, Holiday Camp, and more!
Two special awards were presented. The senior 4-H’er award was presented to Rebekah Morris. Rebekah has been a 4-H’er for 11 years. She served as the 2018 County Council President and is running for the position of South Central District Reporter for the 2019-2020 term. Rebekah attended State 4-H Congress in Raleigh, NC as Stanly County’s delegate. Additionally, she played a vital role in the assembly of our state 4-H fair booth. Congratulations, Rebekah!
For the first time, we presented a “Volunteer of the Year” award. This year’s recipient has been a volunteer with 4-H for 21 years. He began as a club leader for the general interest 4-H club, the Clever Clovers. He later began the Super Sparks 4-H Club focused in electronics. Each year he teaches summer classes and aids with most county events. He is humble, giving, and never asks for recognition. This much-deserved award was presented to Gary Hatley. Congratulations, Gary!

We are looking forward to another great year with 4-H! We hope you and your family will join us for more adventures in 2019. To learn more about 4-H, you can call (704) 983-3987 or email kacie_hatley@ncsu.edu. Also, be sure to follow us on social media.
