Collapse ▲If you haven’t been by the Agri-Civic Center lately, you have missed the start of a great transformation of the grounds and public space surrounding the building. The Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers are working with the County to create educational and beautiful gardens to be enjoyed by patrons and visitors. This work has spawned a new opportunity for individuals to get involved as a garden volunteer member, which will be called the “Friends of the Stanly Gardens.”
This volunteer group provides much-needed manpower and time in exchange for educational benefits and opportunities exclusive to the volunteer. Our Extension Master Gardener volunteers work alongside the Friends to teach, assist, and train as needed. Also, these volunteer hours are transferrable and meet a requisite for becoming a full, certified Extension Master Gardener volunteer. So, you can view this opportunity as a trial run for becoming an EMGV or just decide to continue volunteering as you have time.
An Interest Meeting will be held on December 9, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.
