Stanly 4-H’ers Win 5 Medals at District Activity Day

— Written By Kacie Hatley

During these times, it can be difficult to maintain a sense of normalcy. However, the 4-H program is making a number of adjustments to offer their usual programs in a virtual format. One of these programs is the 4-H Presentations Program.

Each year, 4-H’ers from across the state create presentations on a topic they are passionate about. This year, rather than presenting in-person, youth had the new challenge of captivating their audience from behind a camera. Each participant pre-recorded their presentation and submitted it for a panel of judges to virtually review. Stanly County had five presenters advance from county level and received awards at the district level.

Our winners were:

Kali Reed – (8-10 Age Category) – Arts & Communication – SILVER

Wallace Reed-(11-13 Age Category) – Arts & Communication – BRONZE

Evan Didio-(14-18 Age Category) – Arts & Communication – GOLD

Kyle VanHorn-(14-18 Age Category) – Citizenship & Community Service – GOLD

Sarah VanHorn-(14-18 Age Category) – Foods & Nutrition – GOLD

Congratulations to all of our winners and good luck to our gold medalists as they advance to state-level competition!
