It’s that time of year again- time for our annual Summer Blast program! Check out all 15 of our fantastic camps for Summer 2022!

For further details regarding registration, payment, etc. please visit the ‘Summer Blast’ heading under the ‘4-H Youth Development’ tab on our website. All registrations will be done via Eventbrite beginning at 9 a.m. on May 2nd, 2023. Physical payments for classes must be received at the 4-H Office by 4 p.m. on June 2nd, 2023. Payments should be made either directly on Eventbrite, or via cash or check.

**PLEASE NOTE: All ages are based off of 4-H Program Age- the member’s age as of January 1, 2023.**

Breadmaking Basics:  Students will make homemade bread while practicing food safety skills, measuring skills, and teamwork. This will be a fun day tasting lots of different types of breads!

Livestock RoundUp:  Learn about different livestock species through hands-on activities! We’ll learn about the main livestock species, what and how they eat, where they live, and how to take care of them! This camp is open to youth 9 years old and above. All participants will need to bring a bagged lunch.

Summer Safari:  Come along for a fun day at the NC Zoo! Transportation and lunch will be provided for class attendees. Participants will need to bring money for any souvenirs that they would like.

  •  Outdoor Adventure Camp:  We will be kayaking Badin Lake for the day! Join us for a fun day of outdoor adventuring and exploration!

 Cloverbud Money Fun:  Join us for a fun day learning all about money, where money comes from, how to spend money, and how to save money. We will play money games, sing money songs, and each child will leave with their very own piggy bank.

Fit Kids Camp:  This three day fit camp will take place at Gold’s Gym in Albemarle. Kids ages 9 and up will experience all kinds of exercise from local personal trainers. Water bottles and snacks will be provided to all participants. Youth are expected to dress appropriately in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Parents/Guardians are expected to check their child in and out each day.

Camp Crafty:  Join us for a fun-filled day of art projects- guided paintings, clay sculpting, and more!

Kids in the Kitchen:  In this camp, youth will get hands-on learning by cooking, crafting, while receiving healthy eating education in the Extension Kitchen. They will learn basic nutrition, food safety, and cooking skills that will allow them to gain confidence in cooking more and consuming healthier foods at home. Kids will receive their own cooking tools to take home! Participants are expected to wear closed toe shoes.

Magic of Electricity:  Soldering and circuits and LEDS, oh my! Learn basic soldering skills to assemble an electronic kit with the help of Stanly Community College instructor, Gary Hatley.

Plant Detectives:  We will be traveling to the Plants for Human Health Institute in Kannapolis to learn all about plant science! We will be participating in fun, hands-on science experiments! Each participant will need to bring a bagged lunch for our picnic afterwards.

Cloverbuds in the Garden:  Our Cloverbud 4-Hers will be learning all about gardening from our Master Gardeners! Participants will plant their own plants, decorate flower pots, learn about good bugs vs bad bugs, and more!

Soil Science Camp:  Let’s get hands-on with the soils around us! Participants will learn all about local soils, soil health, soil profiles, and so much more!

Sewing 101:  Youth will learn the basics of sewing, including how to use sewing tools, how to use a sewing machine, and how to follow a pattern while making their very own sewing projects. At the conclusion, youth will leave with completed sewing projects! This camp is proudly sponsored by the Stanly County ECA!

Summer Road Trip:  Participants will be traveling across Anson County to explore the Pee Dee Wildlife Refuge, visit Brown Creek Creamery, and check out the local Planetarium! Transportation will be provided. Each child should bring a bagged lunch each day.

Geocaching on the Farm:  Join us for a fun day of adventuring around Rowan County! We will be teaming up with Rowan County 4-H to go geocaching at Patterson Farm. We will be having a picnic lunch on the farm, and will also be exploring Dan Nicholas Park! All participants will need to bring a bagged lunch.
