Extending the Gardening Season: Fall Gardening

Extending the Season: Fall Gardening

Just because the summer is coming to an end does not mean that the gardening season has to end also! Home gardeners can extend the gardening season easily by planting garden vegetables for fall or winter harvest. Gardeners can get even more out of their gardens by implementing low tunnels, row covers, or constructing cold frames. This workshop will cover these gardening methods, crops recommended for fall gardens and much more! Join us on August 29, 2023 at the Reconciliation House Kitchen (20 Academy St. Burnsville NC).

Garden Cover Crops

Cover Crops for the Home Garden

Taking care of the soil is essential to gardening successfully. Garden cover crops can be planted to improve the soil, reduce weed issues and/or benefit soil fertility for net years’ gardening season. This workshop will focus on potential cover crops that can be planted and how they can be implemented into gardening strategies for desired outcomes.
