Road Construction on NC 24/27 Highway in front of Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. Due to road construction on NC 24/27 Highway in front of the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center, Newt Road is closed from the 24/27 end. Detours have been posted on main roads. Those familiar with the area should have no problem getting to the facility. Coming from Albemarle you will need to take Canton Road and turn left on Newt Road at the Convenience Center. There is a barricade on that end of Newt Road as well, but there is sufficient room to pass it to proceed to the parking areas of he Civic Center. If you are coming from the Locust area, you can turn left on Bost Road or Odell Road - both of these roads deadend into Canton Road - at the end of either of these roads just turn right onto Canton Road and then right on Newt Road. According to our information Newt Road will be closed until at least September 1.
