When to Plant: Hardwood Trees

Planting trees like Flowering Dogwoods, Redbuds and Mulberries are exciting times. But when should you plant? For most trees it is best to plant in the fall. Staying out of the heat helps trees grow healthy root systems. This will increase their chance of survival when a drought comes in the summer. If you plant in the summer, the tree can get top heavy and lack the necessary water for survival during a dry spell. Before planting your tree take a soil sample to make sure all the necessary building blocks are there for a healthy and beautiful tree.
