Mastering the Art of Preservation: Join Our "Canning for Success" Workshop
ALBEMARLE, NC – Ready to fill your pantry with homegrown goodness? The N.C. Cooperative Extension – Stanly County Center is hosting an intensive, hands-on workshop, "Canning for Success," to help residents master the essential science of home food preservation.
Led by FCS Agent Hayley Cowell, this workshop uses the evidence-based Safe Plates Preservation program to ensure your harvest is preserved safely and effectively.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain confidence in two primary preservation methods:

  • Boiling Water Canning: The best method for high-acid foods like jams, jellies, and pickles.
  • Pressure Canning: The critical, safe way to process low-acid foods, including vegetables and meats.

This is a true hands-on practice session; every participant will leave with a jar of each product processed during the class!
