From The NC State Soybean Extension Program: We are currently conducting research trials focused on improving deer management in soybean production. Their current studies are evaluating strategies to reduce deer damage at planting, as well as determining the effectiveness of different application frequencies for deer repellents throughout the growing season. The goal of this work is to develop science-based recommendations that growers can confidently implement during the next growing season.

In addition to this research, we want to highlight  valuable programs that can assist growers dealing with deer-related crop damage across North Carolina:

AGDMAP (Agricultural Damage Management Assistance Program) provides technical assistance and guidance for managing wildlife damage in agricultural systems. The program works directly with producers to assess damage and develop integrated management strategies compliant with state regulations. More information can be found here: AGDMAP Overview

Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) is a depredation-related tool available to eligible landowners experiencing significant deer damage. The program helps producers better manage local deer populations through site-specific harvest recommendations and, where appropriate, additional management flexibility.
