N.C. Cooperative Extension – Stanly County
Seeks Community Outreach Volunteer
to Promote 4-H Program

N.C. Cooperative Extension – Stanly County is seeking an enthusiastic Community Outreach Volunteer to help promote its growing 4-H program to community members throughout Stanly County.

4-H is a Cooperative Extension program dedicated to serving young people. In Stanly County, the program aims to reach and serve all 9,700 of the county’s youth, ages 5 to 18. 4-H empowers young people to reach their full potential by providing opportunities to work and learn in partnership with caring adults.

This rewarding volunteer role involves attending community events and sharing the incredible benefits of 4-H with Stanly County families.

About Stanly County 4-H

4-H is the youth development program of Cooperative Extension and the nation’s largest youth development organization. Through 4-H, young people learn by doing, gaining valuable life skills and becoming active, contributing citizens in their communities.

Stanly County 4-H has seen significant growth in the last two years, expanding from a single club with one leader to five clubs with 12 leaders. We want to build on this momentum to ensure all 5- to 18-year-olds in the county have access to the learning opportunities 4-H provides. To do this, we need to increase our capacity to serve our growing community. We’ve accomplished this growth with one full-time 4-H staff member and a team of dedicated volunteers, but our continued expansion depends on community members like you.

Job Description

This rewarding volunteer position involves representing Stanly County 4-H at local events and sharing the benefits of our program with families. We are looking for someone who is at least 21 years old with availability on evenings and weekends, and a passion for making a real difference in the lives of young people. This role reports to the 4-H agent.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Stanly County 4-H at community events and meetings.
  • Help track and report on outreach activities and progress toward our goals.
  • Support the creation of outreach materials, such as flyers and presentations.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has strong interpersonal skills and can connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Is interested in building relationships and sharing information with community members.
  • Is self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Has a passion for community service and is committed to our mission.
  • Is adaptable and willing to learn.
