Monthly Meetings for All 4-H Members

During the months of January, March, May, September, and November, Stanly County 4-H will be hosting monthly Activity Nights for all local 4-H members to attend! Each event is completely free! See below for event dates and details:

  • January 26- Candlemaking
  • March 30- All About 4-H Presentations, Service Projects for the SCAPS Animal Shelter
  • May 23- Sewing
  • (TENTATIVE) Setember 28- TBD
  • (TENTATIVE) November 30- TBD

Kitchen Kids

Kitchen Kids is our new 4-H Cooking Club! This club educates members on food safety, teaches them how to follow recipes, and participants even get to make their own tasty dishes at each meeting! This club will be following a SPIN Club cycle for the fall of 2023.

Youth:  5-9 year olds

Meeting Location:  Agri-Civic Center

Meeting Dates:  October 5, 12, 19, 16; November 2, 9

Meeting Time:  4-5 p.m.

Club Leader:  Hayley Cowell, FCS Agent (actively recruiting parent/community member volunteers)

The Barn Kids

The Barn Kids is our up-and-coming youth livestock club! This club participates in activities involving all livestock species- cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, horses, and rabbits. This club will be following a SPIN Club cycle for the winter and fall of 2023.

Youth:  5-18 year olds

Meeting Location:  varies (based out of the Agri-Civic Center)

Meeting Dates:  January 31; February 14, 28; November & December dates TBD

Meeting Time:  6-7 p.m.

Club Leader:  Katelyn Stegall, Livestock Agent (actively recruiting parent volunteers)

Teen Cooking Club

The Stanly County Teen Cooking Club is our older and more advanced cooking club. This club focuses on allowing youth to safely prepare their own healthy snacks and dishes from start to finish. Participants also learn more advanced information about nutrition along the way!

Youth: 9-18 as of January 1 of the current year

Meeting Information:  Second Thursday of each month from 4-5 p.m.

Meeting Location: Stanly County Agri-Civic Center EEC/Kitchen

Club Leader:  Chelsea Barber, SNAP-Ed Program Assistant (actively recruiting parent/community volunteers)

Stanly County Homeschool Club

This new 4-H Club is open to any homeschool student in Stanly County! This club picks a yearly theme to focus their monthly meetings around. Their theme for 2023 is ‘Farm to Table.’  Please email stanlycohs4h@gmail.com or michaela_vick@ncsu.edu for more information about participating in this club!

Youth: 5-18 as of January 1 of the current year

Meeting Information:  Second Friday of each month at 1:30 p.m.

Meeting Location: Varies (based out of Stanly County Agri-Civic Center)

Club Leader:  Jennifer and David Smith (actively recruiting parent/community volunteers)

Rocky River Riders

This new 4-H Club is open to any 4-Her in Stanly County! This club focuses on equine science and equine educational contests. This club occasionally participates in hands-on activities with horses as well. Horse experience and/or ownership is not required to participate! Meeting Location: Oakboro Community Center- 626 Long St, Oakboro
